Dear Supporter of the Sydney Welsh Choir,
I am writing to invite you to our St David’s Day Celebration which will
be held again at the aptly named Carnarvon Golf Club, Nottinghill Road, Lidcombe. As March 1 falls on a Monday this year, the
event will be held a day early on Sunday February 28, to allow more people to
attend. The doors of the auditorium
will open at 2.30pm, and the function bar will also operate from that time. The concert by the Sydney Welsh Choir with
audience participation will begin at 3.00pm, featuring soprano soloist Cheryl
Priest and harpist Karen Hickmott. The
concert will be followed by a short speech by British Consul-General Richard
Morris who will propose the toast to St David.
The copious finger food should arrive soon after 5.00pm, then everyone will
be free to mingle, chat, and even sing a few more songs if the situation
demands.
The choir is anxious that this celebration should be open to the whole
Welsh community, so we have set an admission charge of just $20, which will not
even cover costs. If you wish to come,
you will need to book soon, as seating is strictly limited by the club and late
requests will have to be refused. Please
send your cheque, payable to the Sydney Welsh Choir, to me at 214 Barrenjoey
Rd, Newport, 2106. We’d love to see you
there!
Kind regards,
Clive Woosnam
